Funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz, rock, poetry- when Aftah Party hits the stage crowds never know what to expect except that they will be on their feet all night long! Aftah Party is based out of Knoxville TN and was formed by brothers Ken and Keith Brown and long time friend Melvin Ellis. This 10 piece band with three piece horn section has set out on a mission to combine their wide range of musical experiences and influences into a single dynamic and soulful experience for audiences. The band draws inspiration from artist such as Stevie Wonder, P-Funk, Mint Condition, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Raphael Saddiq, Erykah Badu, The Roots, and Outkast to name a few.
      The Band's lineup consist of Melvin Ellis and Rhea "Sunshine" Carmon(lead vocals), Ken Brown(Drums), Keith Brown(Bass and Keyboards), Mike Seal(Lead Guitar), Casey Hauschildt (Lead Guitar), Julius Blue( Keyboards), Tamara Brown(Alto Sax), Jamel Mitchell(Tenor Sax), and P.J. Alexander(Trumpet). These individuals resumes include national tours with bands such as Grand Tarino (P.J. Alexander). Other members have performed on international jazz festivals like the Jazz En Tete festival in Clermont-Ferrand France, had appearances on Bobby Jones Gospel, and have won multiple poetry competitions.
  Aftah Party has been performing regularly since October 2008 and has rapidly been gaining notoriety in their home town and surrounding areas for their high energy performances and large diverse crowds. On December 11, 2009 they released their debut album Welcome To Tha Aftah Party. This album is an eclectic blend of soul, jazz, blues, spoken word, hip-hop, and funk. All of the music was written and produced by the members of Aftah Party. In March 2010 Aftah Party won Knoxville's first annual Sound Off Competition and were awarded the opportunity to open up for American rock band "Tonic" on May 20, 2010 in Knoxville for Sundown in the City. The band continues to perform and write new music and is looking forward to traveling and bringing their music and unique style to both national and international audiences.
