Playing music professionally for over 15 years, Pee Jay Alexander has had the experiences of a very well rounded musician. From humble beginnings in classical music performing with the Chattanooga and Knoxville Symphony Orchestra(s), the Pride of the Southland band, various University of Tennessee Small Ensembles to touring the country playing 200+ dates per year with 10 piece monstrosity Gran Torino. One of the principle song writers for Gran Torino, Pee Jay was responsible for writing the hit song “Moments with You” which was the Grand Prize winner in the "Pop Category" of the 2000 John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
Shortly after Gran Torino disbanded Pee Jay began another project: The Spades Band. A healthy mix of Jazz, Neo-Soul, R&B, and Hip-Hop the Spades Band explored the boundaries of popular music with varied arrangements of music and personnel. Among other great venues Pee Jay has had the privilege to perform at the Sydney Opera House in Australia, House of Blues (Chicago), Bonnaroo Music Festival, MTV 2, Tipitina's (New Orleans), and opened for music greats like Al Green, The Gap Band, Arrested Development, and John Popper of Bluestraveler
